| Powerhead™
was founded by John Body, an inventor and entrepreneur
from England. John had extensive experience
in large scale farming management and was solely responsible
for the development of an 18-hole golf course in Kent,
England. After the opening of Chart Hills Golf Course,
John’s role shifted to quality control of the
grounds and profitability strategies. It was during
this time that John noted repeated problems with grass
infestation in and around irrigation heads which was
contributing to aesthetic and maintenance issues. John
began conducting extensive research for an appropriate
product to solve the problem. When he found that none
existed, John designed and invented a plastic cutter
to fit to a commercial weed eater that cut the grass
around the irrigation head. This lead to the launch
of the Powerhead company in 1995.
Powerhead
Clear-Cut, Powerhead's initial product,
was originally sold to golf courses via distributors
throughout the UK, Europe, South Africa, Hong Kong and
Australia. With over 34,000 golf courses in the US,
it soon became evident that the US would be a major
source of business for Powerhead's products.
The company's headquarters were relocated from the
UK to the US. A manufacturing plant outside of Fort
Worth, Texas became the new site for Powerhead manufacturing
operations. The product was showcased at several of
the largest trade shows in the US. The GCSAA was the
main international show where Powerhead Clear-Cut received
both national and international interest.
The
Powerhead Easy-Dig attachment
for planting was invented by John Body and
launched December of 2004. This patented conical shaped
design planter served as an efficient and cost saving
strategy for large scale planting of bulbs, annuals
and small plants.
Powerhead Clear-Cut and Easy-Dig can benefit
any company or organization with extensive ground maintenance
requirements. This includes golf courses, sports
fields, residential communities, parks and recreational
areas, schools, hospitals and cemeteries.
